sheep farming scope- India

.Approximately 5.7% of India’s GDP from animal husbandry and 10% of it is from sheep and goat

.33 kg/yr is per capital meat consumption in developed world- Rapidly growing economy India has 5.4 kg/year- 27 kg/year/head of deficit- incredibly huge market in the next 10-15 years especially since we are second populist country in the world

.India’s rapid growth rate- and increased standard of living demands more meat production- huge scope for sheep and goat production.

.Animal husbandry will play the necessary role in percolating the newly visible urban growth to rural India

.If marginal and small farmers join hands to rear sheep through intensive , semi intensive methods can increase their income significantly

.Better marketing and transportation facilities will help in maximizing the profits for farmers
